The Fish Lip Grip and Scales Are Really Cool

This is a fishing tool that does exactly what it says; it grabs a fish by its lower lip, lifts it out of the water, and even weighs the fish up to 20 lbs. This funny looking tool can be a replacement for the fishing net, or be used along side it, depending on the conditions. It can be used to secure the catch in the water or out of the net. Because of its short reach, the net is still the better choice for recovering the catch directly out of the water. However, once in side the boat, this new tool can safely handle the catch. The idea is the same as the ring on a bull’s nose, hook up the lead rope and the 1500 lb. animal follows you gently, where ever you want to go. This tool clamps onto the bottom lip of the fish for complete and total control with out harming the fish.

The intriguing part is the trigger mechanism. The trigger is a simple spring loaded trigger that clamps down upon release. The scissor like ‘O’ ring on the end is finished with rounded tips that not only looks like it will lock on to the fish, yet also allow will minimal damage for catch and release. The scissor like clamp opens with the simple trigger on a stainless steel rod about 18 inches long. Comparing this with a similar devise that acts like a pair of vise grips, it activates by releasing the trigger instead of pulling the handle closed. The slender compactness of the tool gets the fisherman closer to the catch making it easier to remove the hook while maintaining control and safety from the hook. Maintaining a grip on the tool in adverse conditions is important. The rubber grip on the end along with a wrist band helps maintain control and prevents the loss of the fish, and the tool.
